Hot on the heels of Rory Fresco’s Epic signing comes another very young and very talented local MC. This week 17 year-old KC rapper Zarin Micheal posted his third track in as many months via Soundcloud. “Straight Like That” is full of the distorted bass, industrial synth and auto-tuned delivery that demonstrates an affinity for Yeezus-era Kanye. On the hook, Micheal attempts to calm a lover even as he shouts out his side work, “Even though I’m fucking all these different hoes/I’m just fucking them I swear I’ll get right back/And you fucked him too/I say it straight like that.” But Micheal really finds his flow on the verse and fittingly proclaims “My verses really kill n*ggas.” The track is another early offering from a young rapper who is already gaining traction in KC and beyond.
